Is it safe to use a T or Y splitter to run two devices from one regulator? I am looking to run a fridge on propane and planned to disconnect it when I needed to cook (having reconnected the stove - ie both devices with their own regulator). I'm suspecting re lighting the fridge might quickly become rather tedious.

Yes it's safe, just make sure all the connections are sealed using a bit of soapy water

yes perfectly safe . Use the quick release gas connectors and your whole set up becomes simple and safe

I second the quick release connectors, less hassle if you only need to run 1 item then.
Also makes it easier if like us you have different regulators depending on which gas your using.

Thinking about this: so would it be

1. Hose from Regulator to splitter

2. Short hose for each "leg" to which is jubilee clipped one half of the coupling (obviously I need to the coupling device to close when disconnected so I guess I can't plug the "valve side" of it directly to the splitter, right?)

3. Hose from other half of the coupling to stove/fridge

Spot on,except that jubilee clips aren't recommended for gas pipes,although almost everyone uses them,including me! The quick release couplings are available from GO if you don't trust ebay!
