Get yourself on of these http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9781846401336?redirected=true&gclid=CNz684PM_rcCFdQZtAodsDQA3g and beg, borrow or buy a cool box (not a cool bag as they aren't as good) and freeze 2 litre empty lemonade bottles, orange juice and food items to help keep it cold. For a 4 day break you need cool box. Have a look round car boot sales, we've some decent ones go for not a lot on boot sales and the same for other camping bits.
The little cook book has some great ideas,unlike some of the camping cook books were they suggest using expensive ingredients.
I always make a chilli, spag bol or curry for the first night, heat it through and serve with rice, breads or salad.
Good luck!

Without any way of keeping food cool and fresh you will need to shop daily. Take a pre-prepared meal with you that just requires reheating for the first night - curry, chilli, spaghetti bolognaise, stew all work well. After that you can pretty much eat the same things you would at home, but you have the fun of thinking about how to cook it on a 2 burner stove or BBQ! Here are some of the things we like to eat:
* Chicken and vegetable fahitas
* Stew and Dumplings/Casserole
* "Roast" dinner
* Full English brekkie
* Meatballs in tomato and basil sauce with rice or pasta
* Bangers and Mash
* Jacket potatoes
* Chilli con carne
* Spaghetti bolognaise
* Spanish omelette and salad
* Pasta with chicken, peppers, onion and broccoli
* Salmon with boiled new potatoes and veg/salad
* Rissotto
* Paella
* Kebabs (seafood, chicken, vegetable)
* BBQ - burgers, sausages, chicken drumsticks, steak etc... and for pudding
BBQ scones
Baked bananas stuffed with Mars Bars or chocolate buttons
Flamed pineapple
Chocolate orange muffins <!-- Signature -->I have cooked all of these dishes using 2 cartridge stoves and a BBQ.
I find my 3 tier stainless steel steamer very useful as you can cook a whole meal in it using just one burner.

how do you cook a roast dinner? do you use cooking stuff with electric hook up

Re the "roast" dinner, I use my barrel BBQ to cook the joint, boil the potatoes and then pan fry them to make them crispy, boil the veg and then use this water to make the gravy.
So, no you don't need electric hook up to have a Sunday dinner!
I cook all this just with the BBQ and 2 suitcase stoves.

I think you deserve chips one night!
Not read all the replies above but I would make three one-pot reheatable things and freeze two. Take one chilled and have it the first night. You can keep frozen stuff frozen for quite a while by wrapping it in a few layers of newspaper. If you have a fleece or wool blanket, fold it up and put it in a carrier bag and shove things inside - DIY cool bag.
Stuff I'd make in advance or cook on site below.
On site:
Fresh tortelloni (non meat one will be fine out of the fridge) with a wee tub of that Dolmio stir in sauce.
Risotto rice, stock cubes, packet of cold cooked chicken and some frozen veg. Or if you're alrigth with veggie, bring a courgette, asparagus, frozen mixed veg, etc. Parmesan grated will keep no bother in a box.
Vacuum packed smoked mackerel or a smoked sausage in a packet both make a decent meal with Smash and peas. Bring the peas frozen (OK if they defrost) and boil them in the amount of water you need for the Smash. Mix the Smash in at the end.
Last time I cooked in advance and made:
Lentil and potato and veg curry. Fry 2 onions, garlic and ginger 'til soft. Add 2 big cubed potatoes and keep frying. Add 2 tbsp curry powder and 1 cumin and a tbsp of tomato puree, mix into a paste, fry a bit then stir it all. Add two handfuls of any old veg frozen or fresh, top up with boiling water and 2 handfuls of lentils. Boil and simmer for at least 30 minutes.
Home-made beans: bacon bits fried, stock veg whizzed and sweated on top, tin of tomatoes, tin of beans (in water) and paprika, chilli and oregano brought to boil and simmered for 40 minutes. Good with bread.
Chick pea and chorizo stew: fry chorizo, then sweat stock veg, tin of tomatoes, tin of chick peas, lemon juice and chilli and simmer. Again, good with bread.
Good luck.

We went to a festival at the weekend and just had a cheap cool bag with us.
We had packet hotdogs on the first night, in buns with ketchup, mustard and onion relish. Veggie chilli and rice the second night that I had precooked and frozen before hand. On the third night we had fresh pasta, sauce and some shredded ham hock (it was on a meal deal at waitrose) and on the final night we ate out. I also froze a couple of pint cartons of milk and everything was still fresh when we finished with it.
