I get the whole naturist thing although would not impose my body on poor innocent bystanders lol, but I really can't imagine putting a tent up with nothing on! The relaxing in chairs and going for a gentle stroll I understand, but all that bending over and stretching.....not a pretty sight!!!

crocs are great in the wet to slip on and off at the tent door so less mud :)

Thank you everyone or your replies.
I am typing this from the comfort of my super king size bed at home!
The rain just got heavier after we'd packed up the car, plus all the bedding was in the roof bag and I'm not sure just how waterproof it is. The thought of sleeping in damp bedding, coupled with the fact it's our first trip post baby, we cried off.
Wimps, I know !
However, we're leaving first thing in the morning as the car is all packed. The campsite were very understanding and hadn't really expected us to turn up.
So in the end, we got soaked whilst packing the car, but have the luxury of sleeping at home tonight.
Looking forward to tomorrow, especially as the weather is looking ok (it's actually lighter outside now than it was earlier today!). This will be our first trip with baby, awning, carpet and EHU.
Will try to post pictures in a day or so.

Go for it, life is far too short.
We pitched up in rain back in May, got completely soaked but then really enjoyed getting dry and warm in the tent after with our new ehu hookup. This was then followed by glorious dry weather (high winds unfortunately accompanied the dry weather) However, we still enjoyed our little break x
It makes the trips all the more memorable!
If you do have to take down in the rain, it might be advisable to take a spare grainbag/builders bag to pop wet tent into to save anything else getting wet or the bag until you can dry it out when you get home.

Shame you didn't get away but sounds like it made sense to wait. Glad you are still going. Have a fab time.

It have been raining looking through the window, but it doesn't mean that it will be raining at your campsite.
plus the tent tends to go up faster in the rain. hehehe
did you go in the end.

Hi all...
We're back. We went on Saturday instead. First trip with the baby, awning, carpet and EHU went brilliantly. In hindsight, putting up in the rain whilst keeping dogs and baby dry would have been hard work, but do-able.
The bad thing about arriving at the site on a Saturday was a much reduced pick of pitches, especially as we had the EHU. In future, rain or no rain, I'd rather go during the week to have a better chance of getting a spot we like.
The flip side is, it rained all day yesterday and last night, so we've packed up wet. Need to find somewhere to hang the beasts to dry...no garden and no garage...should be fun! Nice to see the weather is improving too now were back...sods law!
The little one slept brilliantly...must've been all the fresh air. And I slept better than any other trip...the key to staying warm at night really is layers underneath (on top of the air bed), and getting changed into thermals before it gets too cold.
Husband has found his sleep holy grail too...camp bed with sim...Wilkinsons in Preston were selling them reduced from £30, to £20, then reduced again to £10...they look exactly the same as the £35 beds in Go.
I'll try to figure out picture posting in a day or two. Can't wait for our next trip in August. And thanks to you all and these forums for your tips. I'll be posing questions soon about carpets and EHU soon!
Oooo .... A big plus for cat litter in the loo bucket. Works an absolute dream!
Must do campsite review too...Gibsons Barn in Garstang.

I'm really glad you had a great time, despite the weather trying to put you off. Camping with a baby is very hard work so well done !
If you are warm and comfy at night, you suddenly realise what camping is all about, don't you. It won't be long til the next trip and the weather could be improving!!!

We went out last Friday (28th) and it was pouring. Dried up for about 30 mins when we got to Delamere, just long enough to get sorted. Saturday and Sunday glorious. Motto, always take the risk, if it doesn't turn out it's only water.

We went camping 2 weeks ago for my wife's 30th Birthday. It was waiting when we setup, we got soaking wet. It was raining off and on the whole 4 days (3 nights) we were there. Also had to pack up in the rain. We were the only tent in the field.

We've been very lucky I'm regards to setting up and taking down our tent. Most times we have done either it has been dry - once we had a heavy shower in the morning of the day we were leaving, but they let us leave it up til the afternoon so it would be dry - we packed everything else away. Last year it had been chucking I down but stopped when we arrived! :) Taking it down was different though as although it had practically stopped the tent was wet through. We had no choice this time but to take it down as we had to be off by 12 - different site to the previous!
In all honesty, I'd just go and get set up - rain or not! As someone mentioned its surprising how quick you can get set up to get inside when it's raining lol.
