Imagine if it landed on a tent with people asleep, or on a massive stock of farmers hay, or on a thatched roof?
Around our area, they have a few peoblems in the last few years with the cattle eating the wire frame and causing internal injuries.

They are fun and look good, but the problem is you have no control over them.

The fire is due to poor fire precautions at the recycling plant. You can't keep that much flammable stuff together and not be held to blame. Any small flame would have started it.

That's like throwing lit matches around on a moorside then once it all catches light saying "well, there should be someone there to put it out." Chinese lanterns are at best a stupid idea, and at worst, dangerous.

I don't like sky lanterns anyway, they are a danger to small animals and birds

They are also a danger to aircraft. One of those being sucked into an engine could end in tragedy.
