Perhaps start with researching on the web via UKCS and other sites that offer advice such as Go Outdoors and Camping and Caravanning Club.
A wander around good camping shops should give you some ideas of what is available out there to suit your budget.
I believe in "buy it once buy the best", however, that is not always possible due to budget constraints.
Besides, what suits one person may not suit another.
This is definitely the case for beds and cookers.
I used to sleep on airbeds, however, I am using camp bed + SIM combo, and the sleep quality is far superior compared to airbeds.
As for cookers, I used to use gas ones and still have them in the garage. However, my stove of choice nowadays is a Coleman Dual Fuel 2-burner stove that I can use throughout the year.
As for lighting, I use worklamps hooked up to EHU, one for inside and one for the porch/canopy area where I set up my kitchen.
As for pegs, I carry a variety to suit all types of ground conditions except snow and sand.
I have not gone into any details about any of the above as it would be too long a post.
However, there are plenty of threads about that can be found via the Search function.
Have fun doing your research and shopping!

For a stove, I'd recommend a good one. Go outdoors are currently selling their two burner foldaway Coleman stove for £30 rather than £90. It's good quality and will last.
As for lighting, the outwell castor light is excellent, at around £20. It connects to mains, so you'd need EHU, but its far nicer lighting than an LED lantern.
In terms of furniture, research widely. The same item can range from £35 to £65 on different websites and over different weeks. Make a note of the RRP of an item and you'll likely find that some dealer will have a special reduction on it of around 30-50% within weeks or a month or two.
Prices fall in late August so if yo can by with just basics til then, try to do that.
Cheap stuff breaks and is never good to start with. False economy.
