I have just been flicking through some of the pictures on here and looking at all of your tents and they look fabulous - cant wait to get in mine next week!

I feel that my decorating efforts are a bit pathetic now though - we have a set of coloured fairy lights and a strip of bunting but after seeing what other people get up to, I now feel a shopping spree coming on!

How do you decorate your tents? Is colour co-ordinating your chairs and picnic rugs enough? Or do you accessorise? Is the outside of your tent as important as the inside? Pics please if possible, I'm so nosey !:-)

Only fairy lights and bunting. However, I colour coordinate. I have 3 colours of bunting and my fairy lights can be left white or have coloured shades on them. x

Our main tent is green, but most of the accessories we've got are blue (blue chairs, blue rugs, blue cupboard, blue plates, you get the idea) I've recently made some bunting to go on the front guys which is mostly red with blue and green flowers on them, looks pretty and brings everything together with a splash of colour.

I bought white fairy lights a couple of years ago which we use inside. The windbreak is rather ratty now, but when I get round to replacing it I'll try to find a green one to match the tent.

I love to glamp up my tent but I don't really colour co-ordinate, I just like lots of bright colours, so I use crocheted blankets and cushions on my sofa and chairs and also on the floor. I try to crochet a new blanket for each new year camping.

Add some nice lamps and candles, whatever you like really, it should be how you like it, don't worry about anyone else's set up 17

I don't. They are tents, not cakes. I'd no more decorate a tent than a house.

Unless, of course, it was Christmas. That's the one time of year I might decorate a house. But it isn't Christmas.

People can festoon their tent with whatever they like but frippery doesn't appeal to all of us.

Nothing on the inside, only decorate outside with multi-colour fairy lights, buntings, a flag pole for a windsock and UKCS flag.

I may put up a tinsel and a small Santa on the outside if I am camping over Christmas.

all we do is colour co-ordinate the main furnishing items in our tent...for us that means black, pale silver grey and a neutral sandy cream...not everything is all matchy matchy, but when things start falling apart and need replacing then we'll tend to look for items that will fit in with our colour scheme...for example there are still a few years left in our blue, green, black and white tent carpet so for now that will remain in use as it serves its purpose well...we don't go as far as to colour co-ordinate stoves, saucepans, cooking utensils etc however (life's too short and all that ), tho many do...

as for the outside of our tent we prefer to keep that nice and simple with a nice canvas windbreak...i can't bear all the fairy lights, bunting, flags and wind spinners...makes me feel like i'm camping on a fairground...

No I don't decorate. For me, a nice tent is sufficiently pwitty not to need anything extra. However, this is just how I want my own tent to be. I take real delight in how others go about their interior (and exterior!) design. There are some lovely, exotic setups out there and it's great fun to see the pictures or see them on site.

If I had huge amounts of money to spend and a tent was just a fun add-on to my life, I'd buy a big 4x4 and a trailer, then get a large bell tent and kit it out with antiques such as a campaign desk, little wooden safari tables, those boxes the Victorians used to have with the glasses and tantalus inside for wine... posh Turkish carpets... I'd then get someone else to pitch it and sit in it in Edwardian dress, sipping my G&T like a duchess.

Hehehe, but it aint ever going to happen, so my tent is just my idea of simple, practical perfection.

EDIT: I do take a spinney thing if my grandson is with us. He enjoys colourful, whirly things.

We decorated the Cubs marquee for the first time this year at Dad's & Cub's camp, just with my bunting around the guy ropes. It stopped the little buggers trying to climb the ropes! We've got a mum's & cub's camp in September with a Harry Potter theme, so I shall be making some more bunting for that.

When I had my tipi, I used to furnish it with fur rugs, cushions, a chandalier, fairy lights and bunting .

I don't decorate, everything needs to be there for a reason rather than just cosmetic. My one tip is, take the photos soon after pitching because it's not going to look that tidy again!

It depends if you like to keep it tidy really I suppose. I'm on holiday so I'm not going to go mad cleaning up all the time, but I don't like being surrounded by clutter and mess in my tent (probably more so than in my house!). The photos I put on weren't taken as soon as we'd set up, they were taken during the holiday. We've also invested in one of those lightweight hoovers for this year, mainly for the dog hairs on the carpet. I've always used a rubber brush in the past, which did a good job, but thought for the price I'd give this a go!

My kids love to decorate our tent!

Sweet rappers, leftover snacks, crumbled biscuits and clothes are their favourite things to use...

We've got a carpet (keeps tent warmer especially for kids playing on the floor), warm white rope lights, bunting (which is stitched into the tent so doesn't need putting up and taking down each time), sleeping bags which have been recovered with nice looking cotton duvet covers (so fabric is still breathable) and take blankets which double up as throws. We've even used cushion covers to store towels, etc. Clothes are kept in nice looking beach bags with cardboard inserted in one side to double up as bedside tables). Over the years things have been upgraded/replaced with more suitable items which also happen to be better colour coordinated where possible. Might pimp up the table top with some polka dot stickers too! Other half thinks I'm mad (although he admits he loves it really) but everything is low maintenance so I'm not constantly tidying up and takes minimal packing space. Have to admit though that if had the room in the car would take more!!
