You are correct but we wised up to that problem quite a while ago.

All our stuff is boxed or bagged up we have a full backpacking kit which has everything in it and has no crossover with any of our other camping gear, including stuff for the dog.

Our kit is always ready boxed, but rather than box everything in the biggest boxes available we have packed it into smaller parcels and can then take exactly what we need, If we want the smaller tent and full kitchen we can do that, or if we just want basic cooking gear we can take that too. We just pick our tent and then which of the stuff we need depending on the trip.It has meant a duplication of some stuff but is worth it IMHO. The other option is a racking system in the garage like my friend has, everything is laid out like a warehouse and he goes around picking out exactly what he needs for each trip.

The only stuff that has any crossover with our camping stuff is clothing and bedding, the dog even has her own camping box, bed etc.Having it all ready to go in the trailer would be great.

We are seriously thinking about getting a trailer for our car (doing some research now on trailers and the one that would suit us the best), but just how much extra equipment did you purchase just because you had the extra room?
