I have eleven days to wait until i go away to chestnut meadow in bexhill on sea.Today the wife and her father were giving me funny looks as i got all the camping gear out of the father-in-laws barn(including large roofbox)and i now have it all sat in my dining room so i can check it all every night up until it goes in the car.Having the gear cluttering up the house sort of makes the holiday feel closer.
My question is are they right to give me funny looks or do they just not get the excitement of it all and so are missing out.
We will get all ours out the loft 6 days before but I am really excited. Hubby sees it as a chore and mess. I see it is important as it's our 'home' for the holiday. Have a fab time.

I'm off on Monday and my camping stuff has been collecting in the front room for over a week now. I kid myself that it's just to be organised but you are so right, it adds to the excitement and makes the holiday last longer. Can't wait!!!
we go away on the 16th
already had the trailer tent opened up to check,
have 3 storage boxes on kitchen/dining room floor all semi filled
and a check list of items already packed in boxes/trailer and a second list of things that need packing
they are wrong to give you funny looks if you wait till last min you will either find something is broken or leave something behind
Ours is out of the loft and in teh conservatory a week before hand, but if we have two camps with in 2months it all lives in the spare room, and if Grand kids come to stay we just clear the bed for them, they think we are mad!
Our kit comes out of the loft / shed a week or two before the first trip of the year for a clean and stock take. Then it stays tucked in various places around the house until we're done for the year.
But I do love those first couple of weeks of having the stuff around and letting the anticipation build!

Were just the same all our stuff is sitting in the living room :).
We also have 11 days left before we cross the channel and head of to Adge and Largentiere.
Only funny looks come from my 16yr old daughter who finds it hilarious that the old man travels the route on google maps.
So your not on your own m8 :) hope you have a great holiday.
I think it's important to get everything out and check it all at least twice! We moved house last year so now have the luxury of a garage to organise our gear in!

Heavens above no, our living room is two floors above the garage, the trailer and camping gear live in the garage. Come winter the tents and sleeping bags move up to the first floor understairs cupboard. Trailer is mostly permanently packed, select which tent and which sleeping bags we need depending on trip.
