We're currently using a Gelert Valley 4 tent (http://www.gelert.com/products/valley_4_tent) as it was a bargain in our local outdoor store.
I know its not one of the more recommended tents but we didn't want to shell out and decide camping wasn't for us. So far its served us really well in high winds and rain.
However, we're having trouble with water pooling in the porch, its our fault (just to clarify the tent isn't leaking or anything) - we bring it in when opening the door in the rain or bringing it in when walking into the porch etc but I was wondering if any one has any tips how to either not bring it in, or getting rid of it quickly.
The cheapest and easiest solution is to put a tarp up over the front of the tent. If you overlap it slightly onto the tent it acts as a shelter and keeps the rain off.
We had one of these which we used to cover half the door and as a shelter to cook under.
If you do a search on tarps you will find lots of topics and pictures of how versatile they are. Here is a picture of it in use. You could of course just have it straight across the front of your tent.

Agree with the tarp.... and the mats are an added bonus!
Search out "Interlocking foam mats" or similar. Go for the ones with holes in. Edging strips are an option (we binned ours!). As well as cost, keep an eye on sizes. Many are 500mm square, but there are some for a similar price at 600mm square.
Highly recommended. Average prices are around the £12 for a pack of four, but with a little digging for a bargain, perhaps.
