Great to hear that you are going after all, remember this camping lark is a learning curve, and it sounds as though you have identified the things that you would do differently, we've all been there, and I for one am still learning and open to new ideas and ways of doing things to suit me and my family, even after 20 years of camping!
Important to just not sweat the small stuff, and concentrate on relaxing and having a good time, 6 nights will make a big difference rather than always having to think about moving on after two or three days, that's fine if you have the set up and experience to do it easily, but a big deal when you are not sure and have not fine tuned your set up to suit that.
Enjoy your break and I am sure it will be the first of many more to come.
