Does anyone else notice a glazed look in the eyes of other people they know when they talk about camping? I'm sure people at work are getting sick of me showing them pictures of my tent, websites for campsites on the interweb, planning out loud where we are going next etc... I'm positively evangelical about it to other mums at school who often look at me as if I'm crazy for not wanting a 5 star hotel (I like those too!). I'm like a teenager with a crush. Is it just me? Will it pass when I grow up?
You really need to sshhh camp sites are getting fuller you will only encourage them , however I am the same and think I bore them to death a. work with my camping banter lol
------------- Live life to the full you are a long time dead
My family, friends and colleagues all think I am weird for preferring the cooler weather and camping in the cooler months and in winter!
Each to their own at the end of the day.

My family think we're nuts for wanting to spend nights away in a tent. I'm quite lucky as most of our friends camp either with Cubs or when at car shows. We've even got one friend back into a tent having spent years staying B&B's or in the back of his van when we go to car shows for a weekend. This weekend will be his first in a tent for several years after selling his little Transit connect van earlier this year (normally he takes both his classic car and the Transit getting someone else to drive the transit for him).
In the golf and football dominated chit chat at work it's hard to slide in a conversation about camping and you can see the "Shutters" come down and eyes glazing over if I mention it....So tend to keep it short and sweet these days..
You know how some folk get the reputation as "The man to see" about certain things...One fella is good with computers...Another with cameras etc....I (for my sins) am the man folk are directed too when they have a question re camping or fishing....No expert by any means but know enough about both to get by...
Keep my "Zealous streak" for on here...and people I come across who share one or both pastimes as most people do with things they are interested in....

I've got quite a few friends who camp, we go off and make a boring little gaggle in the corner. It's just the same as admitting you like gardening or knitting, there's not so many kindred spirits around! I glaze over when folk start talking about football or cars or the best moisturiser though, so fair is fair.
I'm a new camper, went for the first time last and have not shut up about it since :-) were off again next week for the 4th time in a year, I think my family who think they are more suited to hotels abroad ( I've been and I like them holidays too) are fed up of hearing me talk about my adventures and my new camping gadgets etc
Its great when these friends finally cave in and give it a try - and love it - we've accompanied three on separate maiden voyages now. In all cases they had previously said they'd never sleep in a tent, but 2 of the 3 are now proper addicts.
My hobbies are camping and geocaching and I know people think I am some sort of saddo, but I don't care, give me a hobby with fresh air and exercise any day of the week compared to other indoor based activities I can think of
