Hi folks, I climbed Ben Vorlich the other day and had to pass the throng of 'wild' campers along the south banks of Loch Earn. I would quite like to do something like that with the wee ones (they are young enough to believe it was truly wild camping !) Does anyone know of a nice spot not too far from a lay-by/car similar to Loch Earn but not quite so 'popular', within an hours drive of Perth ?

Stevie, how about the road past Aberfoyle, it has a lot of nice wild camp areas. Have you tried the Comrie Croft? Kids would love it, not wild camping but they allow campfires and they have chickens!
When I travel up to Glencoe on the bus...I see loads of folk wild camping on the shores of Loch Lomond...There seems to be a fair amount of wee "Off the road" Bits...Not layby's as such...But big enough to get one or two cars in..Most of them on that wee narrow stretch of road(about ten miles long Between Luss and Arrochar(sp)Or Ardlui(sp)
Jelboy.

Thanks guys.
Not been to Comrie Croft yet JC. I was just looking for somewhere to drive out to in the evening, pitch, wee fire, kip in peace and quiet and head home again in the morning for swimming/dance lessons etc....not mine I hasten to add
