Funny thing is you don't see strippy windbreaks on beachs as much as you use to .
Then again using a wind break as a wind break is not there primerie use . Would they still sell branded as Temporary fencing ? I wonder
Alternatively, I have been wondering if one of those pop up beach shelters could do service as a campsite windbreak for my mini solo set-up
------------- Still trying to get the packing right.

We have an adult autistic spectrum son and we have windbreaks without fail, it helps us relax knowing he cant suddenly bolt off as he can be very fast when he wants to be, I like them really, if I do fall asleep in the sunshine I dont want to be on view with my mouth possibly catching flies lol.
We bought one for the first time this year. The idea was to leave the cooking stand outside on dry nights, sheltered from any light breezes by the windbreak so that it wouldn't fall over. We also felt safer leaving other stuff out behind the windbreak - for no good reason really. It looked tidier when we left the tent for the day.
However, I would have loved to have opened the side door of the tent and just set up a little area at the back to cook etc shielded by the windbreak. Having it up at the front all the time made me feel really claustrophobic. I love just sitting either in or just outside the tent gazing into the distance and you can't do that with a windbreak. We will use it again, but not at the front.
Do they make windbreaks in "log cabin", "frontier fort" or "Cotswold stone" effects, and where can you get the corner tower sections?
There must be better ways of designing windbreaks than bright stripy deck chair canvas.
Had the neighbours from hell at my last site this year, a large extended family with toddlers left in canvas bins to cry and grizzle loudly all evening with no one bothering to distract or play with them.
My little hike tent looked lost in it's pitch, and without clear boundaries someone walked up to the tent and took the mini solar charger although it was attached to a tent peg. (I was trying to charge it's battery in the sunlight).

I've had a change of heart over windbreaks recently, I have two and used to put them up on day one to create our own private sitting and eating area but over time felt that it created more than just a wind barrier between us and the campers around us.
On the last few camps I used just one only when there was a wind and then took it down, we were then eating, sitting and chatting more in the open and the difference it made was astounding. People walking past said hello far more, they came over, they chatted about the site, the tent, the weather and we were invited over for drinks or to eat far more than when we have the wind breaks up.
Maybe it's a psychological thing, people see you more as a family who want to be left alone, a family who want their own space or don't want to socialise.
I'm not going to stop using them on windy days or for the times I do want to be left alone but I do think I will think more about when I use them and where exactly I will place them so they don't give the 'leave us alone' impression.
I would also like to add that the guy who invents a windbreak that stops noise will become a very rich man indeed.

Wish i could build a bloody wall at times with some of the sh*te that have come on the next pitch lastweek! one pitch looked like the bloody gypsies had moved on drinking from 7am til dusk, washing hung up all over the place, and the din they made was a joke, radio on loud with some cr*p playing.Just glad now they have gone home to there sh*t hole.So yes wind breaks for keeping nosey buggers out and cooking behind.

I'm so sorry.....sounds like we were camped next to you, I tell the wife no drinking until 11:00am. Also I'll see if we can retune the radio from Kiss Fm to radio 4.
