No not yet.
I had the tarp out and set up in various configurations but not yet with the Vermont XLP.
If the weather holds up I may do that either this or the next weekend in preparation for the end of October camping trip - not end of September....
Hi Leafy,
Did the DD tarp work out ok on your Vermont? Would like to sort out something similar for this years camping so very interested to know .... and see any piccies you may have
I ended up trying out my DD tarp 4x4 last year during a 3 day stay in Devizes but always thought I had lost the images I took...
Not so. Please find attached 11 of them.
Although the tarp was quite big, a large part overlaps the front of the tent.
I used a Tarp Clip (Amazon) to attach to one end of the tarp and connected a long piece of 550 paracord across the length of the tent and down the other end to a tent peg.
As the wind came from the side, I attached a piece of 550 paracord to one of the tarp loops further down on the same end and pulled that one across the length of the tent as well.
I then made sure that the side did not flap too much by attaching a couple of guy-lines to the piece nearest to the ground. (where the cooking equipment was located).
The other end of the tarp was connected to 4 extendable poles (Go Outdoors) and staked down with a couple of pieces of guyline.
It was quite windy at night and it stood up well. In summer - or when it's not as stormy - I more than likely would keep the tarp centered.
Overall the tarp could be a bit narrower, but the length (4m) was just about right, although making the overall length of the tent quite long...
I did this with my tarp over the wind breaker.
I intend to use the the front of my Tigris when up, to join the sections together to create a nice bit of shade/shelter
Some great tarp designs!
I have just bought a Gelert Horizon 8 side canopy that looks identical to the Outwell universal side extension for our Vermont XLP. Yet to try it out, but will test pitch to see if it fits on saturday.
Bought it for £25 at the Yeomans exhibition in Ripley near Harrogate.
