I am so, so sorry that this has happened to you, and especially your little girl, how awful for her to have to realise the nastiness that goes on in this world at such a young age.
However I really do agree with the others, don't let this horrible incident spoil your future camping, of course it will have knocked your confidence in the security of campsites, but this really honestly is a rare occurrence.
I do agree with robnchar, your daughter will learn the valuable lesson of resilience if you show that you aren't going to give in to thieves by letting them ruin your holidays together. You clearly enjoy camping, why should the little b******s stop you from doing what you enjoy and choose to do?
I do understand having been a burglary statistic when we lived in London - twice! but it didn't make us move away, that came later when we realised the price of a larger house!
I remember being very, very angry, and I am sure you are too, but fight back and don't let them win.
Give it a bit of time, and don't make a decision too quickly that you might regret.
And have a look at your house insurance, too, a lot of the good policies will cover you for goods taken away from home, especially bikes which are after all designed to be taken away from the home, when our daughter was attacked and had her bike and phone stolen on the way home from college we had a cheque for the value within a week, (and she still cycles to college now!)
Fight back, don't let them make you stop camping.
Jane.
