it got worse before it got better. What a horrible week. After Vango came back and said the tent was faulty, we realised they had mislaid the rest of the package. Argh. This had gone on since Monday afternoon.
I have just had a phonecall from retailer confirming, it's been found and a full refund will be issued as soon as they get a credit note from Vango.
Kind of relieved I don't have to fight but overwhelmed with sadness is the end of a Camping season that's been nothing but stress. if I am honest I know mr wombat may refuse to camp next year and been unwilling to pay with that amount of money again.
I have to agree on light of unforseen changes in the last week. I don't know where we will be this time next week let alone what situation we will be in next march.
It's good to know you'll finally get a full refund Katie, such a shame you've had to go through all that stress in the first place.
Please don't give up hope of camping next year - there should be other tents suitable for you and at the right price. I think you should give yourself (and Mr. wombat) chance to wind down from this experience and relax a bit, then start looking again for next year - easier said than done maybe given the circumstances but do try not to let it put you off altogether.
As an aside, I happen to love wombats, and your last sentence has given me a mental picture of a furry little creature curled up on its own in a corner

Don't be sad, Katiewombat. Things will be better next year. As Louie says, Mr. Wombat might be persuaded by some bargains in the sales and next season you won't have all this stress to put up with.
Get a cute little weekend tent and have some fun with it, grabbing a spontaneous break here and there where you didn't expect it. That would be a great way to get back into the swing...
Good luck, whatever you decide.
Katie and Tigermouse I love BOTH your usernames. Love wombats, and the thought of a mouse who is also brave enough to be a tiger... awwww!
Katie I think you are meant to live outside so a tent is a must! xx
william worthless "wombat beauty"
wombat beauty
there was a little wombat he lived in the wild
somewhere in australia a proper natures child
he would make big burrows that he made his home
where he would hide from dingos when they were on the roam
he would jump inside so he could get away
for the roaming dingo the wombat was his prey
he would live on grass eat shrubs and chew on bark
a happy little chap as happy as lark
such a lovely creature so beautiful is he
all cuddly and so furry a lovely site to see.
Don't feel too sad. I am glad that the problem is finally resolved and you have got a full refund. Now you can chill for a few weeks and then start to look for your perfect tent.

A Wombat is a good description for me. I inherited the nickname years ago. However cute I do have a rather nasty bite lol.
I am not put off at all but oh rejoiced at the refund. Was hard enough to get him to replace the last tent with the Eclipse. Even though we had a pitch booked. Time will tell. I guess.

On the plus side, you might be able to use the refund to pick up a bargain in the end of season sales.
I think the sales are out tbh. I have no idea right now what the next 4 weeks has in store for us let alone 4 months. I wouldn't be prepared to gamble with more the £250

FoO
like I said to Louie above sales are out, mainly because we have had some major changes happen and no idea if we will be in the position to camp next year.

so true. I love the outside. Can't bare the thought of giving up camping is oh need convincing. Will just have to play the well is that it glamping card again.
More serially I have no idea what this winter holds fire us, so maybe camping will have to go on hold for a year or two
just keeping everything crossed right now for more reasons then tents and camping.

------------- Camping Tip #26: In an emergency, a drawstring from a parka hood can be used to strangle a snoring tent friend...or husband!!
we had a huge family tent, 24 foot long, with 3 bedrooms and wardrobes etc etc, used to take me hubby and son 4 hours to put it up and unpack and stuff and it was such a chore. im now registered disabled, and our 16 year old doesnt want to camp now, so we bought an outwell birdland 4 tent, its lovely big enough for us both with lots of space inside but my husband can put it up himself in 20 minutes just 2 main poles :) with me just holding one or 2 poles, i think theres always another way round things, please dont give up!! xx
