Well, I'll not be "having a dig"!* 
We've only been campers for 18 months or so, and we've already been looking at "alternatives". We took a trip to the black country to look at TTs, and have done a lot of googling at classic/vintage vans, as Muckerette fell in love with one of those cardboard French Foldaways!!
All very informal at this stage, and I certainly don't envisage any changes in 2014, but I'm pretty sure that day will come!
If I had to put money on it, I strongly suspect we will go from poled tent to inflatable, then a quirky vintage van. What I wouldn't put money on, is any dates, at this stage. Being late developers, tents and tenting are still very much exciting and enjoyable for us, but I think we are both fully aware that they will, one day, become "hard work".
I don't think the term "natural progression" is an unfair assessment.... I think it will "come to us all" at some stage!
As has been said, "If it extends your camping career..."!
Enjoy it, Scrunchkins, and don't forget us poor folk in the tent section of the forum! 
*OK, I will have a dig afterall.....
I guess that's why most caravanners seem to be sooo much older than us tenters!!

Got to say though Ive had 3 static caravans in the past and loved that experience. Now doing tenting, again loving that. But if I had the money when I retired I think I would like to get a motorhome and just chase the sun round Europe for as long as I could. Geoff
