Hi all
was wondering do you sleep with pod door zipped up or open or does it not matter . i have carolina m tent and have to climb over better half to exit pod but if the door was not zipped could slide out from side without disturbing her
If we have our nephew with us then we keep the door closed, but if its just the two of us then we keep it partly open/closed.. depends on how warm it is, and to help me just shuffle off the end of the bed if I need a wee in the night :)
Shut all day and night... or at least, the mesh is, to keep out unwanted visitors, be they winged, six-legged... or both!!)
The full doors get closed at night, as we like the dark.
Never slept in such conditions where we might consider opening up to the mesh doors at night, due to the heat!!
No climbing involved for us though, so not a consideration.
------------- 2024: 38 nights thus far...
2023: 47 nights
2022: 40 nights
2021: 30 nights
2020: Just 24 nights
2019: A personal best 50 nights
2018: Just the 30 nights
2017: 34 nights
2016: 32 nights
2015: 38 nights
2014: 34 nights
2013: 36 nights
From July 2012: 23 nights
But isn't it "part of camping" falling over the other half while trying to exit the pods / tent quietly?

Shut for me, although I camp alone so don't have the problem of having to clamber over anyone!
I sleep with the bedroom door shut at home so I automatically zip shut the bedroom pod door in the tent.
I usually keep the bedroom pods closed day and night to keep the flying critters out.
However, I used to have a Carolina 3 which is almost identical to the Carolina M and hardly any flies came inside for some reason, so it wasn't so important to have the bedroom pod closed.
The bedroom pod of the Carolina M is quite small compared to most family tents (only a 3 man tent and more suitable for one...or two at a push). The beds can only fit in parallel with the doors, hence the difficulty for the person at the back getting out.
I camped alone and there was plenty of room in the bedroom pod but if flying critters are not a problem I would suggest leaving the door open. The Carolina's are pretty draught free tents anyway so it doesn't make a lot of difference.
We used to have the inners zipped up day and night to keep the bugs out as said by many above. We were on two seperate beds then, so never a problem in any of the tents. In the Esterel I have to climb over DH though, we snigger every time, so childish.
keep closed at all times - stops snakes getting in un-noticed and only being discovered when i step on it or something wriggling about my feet in the dark!
