hi all.. I put out a few post last week regarding me having bought a jetboil flash stove. iv been looking as to what I could cook on it without using pots and utensils. Really its for when I go backpacking/wild camping with nowhere to wash dishes.. lighter ruck sack ..ie no tinned food etc.. I looked at the camping vacuum packed foods and decided to try my own so im messing about with certain food I can take with me. iv just put spaghetti and sausages with a microwaved egg into a Lakeland boil a bag food storage bag and later im going to boil it up too see what it taste like. can anyone tell me , is it safe to cook food first then freeze it till you intend boiling it. if anyone does use the bags and takes repacked meals can they give me any ideas as what they like to eat.. tomorrow im going to do boiled spuds and meatballs. Yes its simple but im just playing around with what I can cook..cheers..stewey camperman
Not an expert as I take available dried supermarket food (& have dehydrated my own) to save weight & so it doesn't go off. In the weight saving stakes there's little difference between tinned food & bagged fresh food.
At home we cook, freeze & reheat stews, casseroles, soup etc. Wouldn't do that with chicken.

I have made popcorn in my jetboil flash, just as a gimmick saw it you tube but would not recommend ,it taste ok but burnt the bottom of the pot,I bought a small frying pan to use with the frying attachment. One thing we do like is making the hotdogs out a tin with mustard and tomato saucejust like real hotdogs.I recon most stuff will be ok in a boil in a bag like mince and tatties or stuff with a sauce etc, even soups are better placed in a bag as it heats very quick
Hi, Re boil in the bag, (this is from a post I have in another section) I have a jetboil and use these:
Aldi are offering 2 of the "Look what we found" products Sunday 26th Jan. Tees Valley Chilli and Durham meatballs. £ 1.79 each (270g). These can be boiled in the bag, in a pan or if you are desperate, eat them cold. They keep for about a year, I always keep a few in the car boot.
