The only thing we have had stolen was last year at a site near Windsor.
Got up and went out the tent and saw one of our peaches on the ground beside the tent, half eaten. Saw the culprits face peaking from behind our tent as it looked at me before jumping the fence and running up the nearest tree.
On our first ever camp together along with my brother and his girlfriend my now hubby had all his clothes stolen. We had a ridge tent, were in a ploughed field that the farmer let out in summer for campers, it rained so hard on the first night we were forced to take refuge in a pub (ahhhh) but on the way out someone must have touched the sides of the tent so when got back the tent was flooded. The next day Sunday was gorgeous so managed to get dried out but on the Monday while we were shopping Allan had his bag taken which contained all his clothes. The rest of the week was fantastic and on the Saturday we went into Bridlington and stood outside Radio Rentals to watch a football match. The manager switched the teles of and so we were forced to get home early on the Sunday so we could watch the repeat of England winning the world cup. That was our first holiday together and last week we celebrated 44 years of marriage. The camp site was Thornwick Bay.
Thornwick Bay Bridlington...The very thought of it boils my blood....Won't bore you with the details but had a nightmare trip there a few years ago...
However....Back on topic....No never had anything stolen in all my years camping....I reckon the eyes and ears around you on site are a big deterrent to all but the most hardened of thieves....Folk around you soon know who should be in and around your tent and I have personal experience of fellow campers challenging folk they thought should not be in my tent(friends arrived when we were out...told them to make themselves comfy and they were confronted by neighbours when they boiled the kettle)
I do take sensible precautions with valubles...camera's etc But I have a habit of leaving fishing rods and various other stuff needed on a daily basis lying around the windbreak area overnight....Last year my inflatable kayak was left at the high tide mark on the beach for a whole week untouched except for me....But I had already sussed that folk around me were like minded and adhered to the unwritten law on sits that you don't touch other folks stuff....

PS...I tell a lie....Forgot...last year had some wood stolen from around my firepit...Went to the pub...Lokking forward to a wee sit by the fire on my return...Wood had gone...Probably some kid foraging that took it not realizing it was to be used on my return...

My friend had four delta pegs stolen last year, the bad news for me is they were my pegs that I'd loaned him just the day before because it was quite windy.
We had a casual walk around the site but never saw anyone using them so it was pure theft.

Though I have eluded to it in the past on those camping "Nightmare" topics we get from time to time on here....
Mind you thinking about it...Very apt for this topic as I had a week and a half(By the time we gave up and came home)holiday stolen from us by the inhabitants and edjits running Stalag Thornwick.....

I forgot about the sheep which ran through our tent (we were out at the time), on a VERY basic site near Ingleton which we used to go to years ago. It didn't actually steal anything but squashed some tomatoes. That might have been on our honeymoon which took place 6 weeks after our wedding.
