This is how I cooked last year when it rained and I have a kitchen tent! Its a windbreak pole banged into the ground with an umbrella gaffer taped to it! Worked quite well actually. The wife just thinks I'm weird!!

I had a 3 man dome tent with an extended tunnel flysheet living area. In South Brittany near Carnac the wind was howling, the rain was falling and the mist was down. cooking outside was not on.
As the wind blew harder the poorly supported living area grew lower and lower despite emergency bungee cording. To cook I had to take the legs off the table and cook close to the floor.
