Last year I couldn't keep away from Go Outdoors and every time I visited I just saw more and more things I just had to have. I fell in love with the Maritsa 500 - as soon as I walked into the demo tent in the field I just knew I had to have it. Then there was a bed, sleeping bags, furniture... You get the picture?

This year I couldn't wait until the tents were set up in the field and the new year's kit arrived in store. And that's where my problems started. Nothing in store seems to excite me - none of the tents get me going like the Maritsa and nothing in store makes me just have to have it.

Am I unwell? I am going down to Woodyhyde near Corfe Castle in May for 2 weeks - maybe that will cure me of my problem. I know that GO is there in Poole in case I have a sudden irresistible urge to spend some money.

When you have the sexiest boat in the marina all the other boats look tame, but you will still want to check out the other boats to see that yours is still the best.
You already have all the camping kit that you need, anything you see in the store is put not on the available list, not on the buy now or wish lists. It is technically interesting to look at new kit but not emotionally stimulating, until you see the dolly bird at the checkout. Of course you have to buy something to speak to her.

No you are not sick, you have just reached "perfect tent set up" state.
HOWEVER, there are always little tweaks and updates that are needed to your equipment.
So your camping trip in May could highlight the need for an equipment upgrade!

Exactly where we are, AdenG1.

I may get excited on Sunday, when we visit Karstenville, but I really don't need/want another tent... or any other gear... at the moment.
Was in Go 2 weeks ago, and pretty much walked past ALL the camping gear. A couple of cycling tops and another pair of zip-off trousers later, we wandered out... content that we are delighted with what we have... for now!!

As Helen has just said... "...there are always little tweaks and updates...".

Personally, I'm rather chuffed we are at this stage now.
Couldn't have done it without this forum though, that's for sure!

I suffered from this and posted a similar post a couple of years ago! I won't say that I have the perfect tent set up but it works for us....whether it's one nighter or longer stay. I still look, and am sometimes tempted (especially when people post on here) but the only thing I have got is new lights.....still trying to find the perfect ones for us

In April 2012 we got a Montana 6P, we then got awning, the extension, Lux Windbreaker, matching chairs, Outwell cupboards, Outwell bags. In fact we upgraded most of our camping gear to Outwell.

Last year, we bought a few more items but not as much as previous year. 3 weeks ago we got a Hi-Gear Gobi for a weekend tent, like as not the gear for this will be Hi-Gear.

A new GO Outdoors has opened in taunton which is only 30mins, sort of bad news as its nearer so i get more tempted to go in, but no money stops for buying anything. Lucky for when i need to take back walking boots tho, im on my 3rd pair since christmas. I am so happy with my tent tho, feels i have the perfect setup with everything. Always seem to have to do things on the cheap, but thats part of the fun tho i guess.

Not as bad as I used to be in Go...Could never come out without buying something camping related...Even if I was only in for something for fishing!!!

Much more focused now on the item I'm going in for...Can certainly have a browse round the displays etc and not be tempted like I once was...

Don't know if its that I'm "All shopped out" at GO cause I don't think I have the perfect set up just yet....Comfy enough yes....But there is still a bit of tweaking to do in some areas.....

Jelboy.

Yes, I think you must be under the weather, AdenG1! You can't possibly have everything you want for camping yet. If the symptoms don't improve by the end of the season then you'll need to go for some kind of treatment!

I've come to the conclusion that HAVING camping stuff isn't nearly as satisfying as WANTING camping stuff! I honestly can't say that I need anything more, but I've just ordered another tent and that led to thinking of a whole coordinated theme for it. Great fun planning and looking for ideas!

Your condition does sound worrying AdenG117  I have the opposite condition, sold my caravan that i have been happy with for the past 6 years and bought a tent. Went back to the caravan retailer for a look around recently and have absolutely no desire to go back to caravanning. Very strange after enjoying it for those years.Kids think i'm mad as not exactly a spring chicken anymore. I clearly now have a severe case of tentitis for which i believe from reading these posts there is no cure and can probably only get worse.

P.S Mucker can you report back if you are tempted with a Karsten tent. Read a lot about them and am thinking of a visit as my sister lives close to their premises.

I'm no doctor but if I were I would say keep an eye on it and if the symptoms persist ...

If however you find yourself in a caravan show room and you find yourself getting excited about folding rigid stays you need to see somebody urgently.

I used to be the same, not now, I just drive all over looking at camp sites to get my camping 'fix'. Still go to GO, but just makes me excited about the camping season
and everytime we go for a trip out and I see the 'Tent' sign I have to follow. and MOWWD what made you want a tent again, just curious. We only took up camping 4 years ago, in our mid 50's, but love it , especially with grandchildren

Sorry, only just spotted this!

More than just tempted! I'll go on record as saying it will happen... it's just a case of when... and the answer is, as soon as I can convince Muckerette it's the right thing for us to do! :-)
I've already mentioned how good the pod alone will be for stopovers in France :-) Not sure that'll hit home in time for this September, though! :-(
