I have a foot in both camps . I love my tin tent but you cant get me ever selling me trailer tent. To much fun with us 2 and the daughter and 2 grands camping together Tin Tent in storage and TT in garage
We used to have a 12 foot caravan while the kids were growing up. We only went away in the summer holidays as they both had activities and Saturday jobs. When they stopped coming with us we soon realised that we were towing the van for cooking as we lived and slept in the awning, so we went back to a tent. We had a Norfolk Lake for the two of us, loved the space and being able to go and have a snooze without the hassle of making the bed. We couldn't manage week-ends as it took so long to put up, and when there was a nice week-end forecast everywhere was fully booked. When we both damaged our shoulders we realised the time had come to give up camping. We were wandering around the NEC show and saw the van we now own, with a fixed bed. We realised we could continue to enjoy "camping" just not in a tent.
We all adjust to our lifestyle and I think it's great that you enjoy what you have now, but also have a little something to dream about when the time comes to change.
------------- Started with a motorbike and tent.......my gallery, my life.
We've been given a Dandy Destiny by a very generous relative...It's stored in a warehouse at a site in North Yorkshire for the grand sum of a fiver per week...We book a pitch and the site handiman takes it out of the warehouse and drops it on to a pitch. All we have to do is erect it...Since we got it her indoors is very reluctant to use the tents anymore.
I must admit we have been looking at caravans this year I love our tents tho and I think for a week or more will always be happy to take a tent, just much easier to get away for a last minute weekend with a van.
