Can't believe how many of you are grumpy sods regarding kids with football
For me it depends on the age of kids mine are 5 and 2 and play with a soft flyaway football that will not damage anything, if the kids are old enough to play away from tents then yes I agree theres no need to play close to tents.
I freely admit to being a grumpy sod when it come to ballgames. It's a nightmare trying to keep the dogs quiet when they can see and/or hear a ball game going on a few feet away. Django has actually managed to pull a dog stake out of the ground in his desire to join in and Lola practically throttles herself in her desire to get hold of that ball and kill it.
I've discovered that kids generally go and play elsewhere when I let them know that Lola holds the world record for speed of football destruction, and is nearly as good at a demolishing a tennis ball (do you know how many bits of rubber a determined terrier can get out of one tennis ball? millions, and they block up the hoover so have to be picked up by hand!)
So, a no ball games rule is another thing we look for on a site, and we expect it to be observed.

Well, just back from Eskdale Club site and it seems to be suffering the same problems, almost every rule broken, dogs off leads, cars driving around after 11,fires in bbq,s,and as for the 6 metre rule forget it. Probably
That's appalling. I'd be complaining to the club pdq if that had happened to me.
What on earth were the staff doing?

I dont have a problem with partying campers. There is a noise curfew on the site I mentioned and I expect that to be maintained, be it by partying campers, kids running amock or people sat with guitars "playing quietly". It's not who or what they are doing it's when!
I don't mind kids playing, I was a child and so were my kids. However, if it says no ball games I expect no ball games and whether the football is leather or foam I dont want it knocking off my tent whether it would cause damage or not. One misdirected ball is fine, it's an accident, it happens but not over and over.
There has to be some level of live and let live but you also need to follow rules. It's because people can't follow rules that I no longer go to that campsite.

My biggest issue is kids with bubble mixture-don't their parents know it makes tents leak! APart from that we have obviously been very lucky about the sites we have chosen.

We have three kids AND a nervous barking dog. We probably look like your worst nightmare when we drive up with our trailer and our crate of lager. We are, however, incredible observant of rules, dog on lead, pitching correctly, kids in bed at 9-10 and no noise. I HATE the groups who pitch up and start setting up their small fortress. I find the women the worst, and OH MY GOD the "he's just small, he's harmless" dog comment. He may well be petal, but my dog who's on his lead doesn't take kindly to another dog charging at him, so if he goes for your dog it's ALL you! If the site says tether your dog then TETHER YOUR DOG!!

well said!! Me and my wife have tattoos, we have three teenagers and an eleven yr old plus a pug and a jack Russell, so when we we pull up I bet people think twice, but were In our sleeping bags by 10, and up exploring the beach before most folk have woke up. So never judge a book by its cover, as I mentioned in a previous post we had the worst neighbours ever at clippesby hall, obviously very well off people screaming and shouting until the early hours with no consideration for others at all. Hi Everyone,
Well we made it!!! did the 4nights got back monday all packed away until next time. or not OH doesnt want to hear camping mentioned again for along time. . Its so hard when I love it with a passion and being outdoors, he doesnt share that with me at all!!!.
Having said that once we were moved had a few small 2 mans tents around us not an issue and at night we managed to get some sleep. Which was kneeded. I will write a site review I dont intent to bash the place it really is a lovely site and I loved the area and will definately go again. But each time we go away we learn by our mistakes and I wont go to a large site on a bank holiday again! The mindless morons & inconsiderate people I guess come in all shapes and sizes and can appear at any site. Just feel let down by the wardens/owners who allowed such a large group in the first place and to place them right beside us and who said they never heard them on there rounds.
Now someone mentioned an incident they had at Clippersby Hall lol, do you want to give my OH a coronary!! its safe to say I didnt mention this to him. We booked there for August as its an hr from my parents and we are taking my grandson and my sister and my niece it looks great for kids. This time the big tent comes out. I love my Outwell Hawaii Reef but we didnt take it on this trip as we new weather wasnt going to be great and my garden just isnt big enough to pitch it to dry it out. Having a reluctant OH its a lot of effort to pitch this and feel better letting him entertain the children and me & my sis can pitch it on our next trip. Having said that if we had taken it on this trip no need for my gazebo and she can take anything the weather throws at her.
So thanks everyone for your support it did help and Im so pleased we didnt pack up and leave having said that if the wardens didnt help us we would of come home. x
