Just sorting through our gear and wanting to update our rainy day/winding down before bed games selection. What are your favourites? Our little ones are 4 years, 8 years and 20 months so aiming for things with the older ones. Preferably quiet so they can also be used to silence the troops when they wake with the birds
We like snap, normal playing cards and dominoes, what else packs down small and isnt too complicated?
Very simple game called Chairs. Argos have it. Small box the size of Jenga, with plastic chairs of different colours and shapes and you have to pile up as many as you can on top of one another.
Nintendo 3DS ... It's like glued to his hand these days
Guess who.
Elefun.
Top trump cards
Connect 4
Dominoes
Tbh we actually love playing all of these with our son. He enjoys football but we don't allow him to have a ball when camping, so we make extra effort and time to play his choice of games.
I like the sound of that Chairs game! My daughter used to have a very neat little game called 'Pass the Pigs' - don't know if they still make it*. You throw the two little pigs like you'd throw dice, and you keep score on a little jotter depending on how they land. The positions have daft names like 'leaning snouter' etc. Takes up next to no space - will fit in a pocket - and is a laugh.
*Edit: They do, £5.49 from Amazon. Other retailers are available!
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
Geocaching is a great way to spend a rainy day - gets you out of the tent and all the family can get involved (well maybe not the youngest, yet!). Don't need to buy or take anything extra either, you can go hunting using just your smartphone & a pen
Brilliant suggestions thank you all :) What actually is UNO, whats the object of the game, as seen it mentioned several times now :) I think ive had something similar as pass the pigs? I know the girls would love that - and my boy like to throw everything!!!
We are no strangers to getting out in the rain, but eventually we all need to dry out Going to need some bigger puddlesuits this year though!

The kids in our family love a game called headbandz. They wear a headband with a card attached and have to guess what they are by asking questions.
It causes much hilarity for our lot so not sure if it is good for calming them down but great fun for kids and adults alike.
My Beaver Scouts love that game and always ask to play it.
