Okay, I've been camping for a few years now and still have a lot to learn. The last trip to Devon went as follows.
Packed the car, tetris style, put the dog in.
Motorway snarl up 50mph, motorway crash, stuck for an hour. Got to site a couple of hours late. Did the basics, looked at facilites, gasped! Tent up (found a dog had been there first. Ripped the pole sleeve having repaired the pole last week, everything thrown inside. Went shopping, nothing open at 9pm. Finally found a takeaway and a co-op. Back to site, finish pitching, forgotten, pillows, change of shoes, jammies, second sweatshirt and hairbrush. Sat shivering and went to bed early. Following day, went hunting for tenacious tape. Got rained on, look for new shoes/trainers and hoodie. Didnt dare try shower.
Phoned CC&C site, begged for a shower. Booked in there. Went back original site, dropped the tent in a downpour, threw everything in the car including the dog, re-pitched a saturated tent, mopped the floor and sat shivering in a sodden sweatshirt and soggy pumps, but had a good shower.
A bad start but good (ish) end. Friday was glorious, bought hoodie in time sun coming out. Tent dried out. apart from condensation. got home, hung tent out over night.
One of those trips I was glad to get home.
