As we don't have a garage, our trailer has to live outside in the garden. I have built a base for the trailer to stand on to keep it off the grass, but wondered if anyone knows where I could get a full trailer cover from.
The trailer is a Daxara 157.

I afraid I don't know of where you could get a such a cover, could you not use a large tarp?

We used a large tarp and literally wrap our trailer up with bungee cords!

I tried using a large tarp and bungee cord, but it just looked so untidy and ballooned in the wind.

At the moment we just have a groundsheet over the ABS lid secured by bungee straps which looks ok but wanted to cover the whole trailer.

Is this really necessary, how do trailers fare out in the elements all year round?

My trailer cover was measured and made via Bank Farm Trailers in Carmarthen (they orgsnised it all for me). It wasn't cheap but ensures that my camping gear is kept dry.   It's an Ifor Williams P6e trailer.

Mine is stored in my garden, we bungie across the top of the mesh sides (3 sets of bungies) then put the pvc cover over then cover and wrap the whole trailer in a very strong and big tarp (we fold the tarp for extra strength) then tie it all down with several ropes. Separate smaller tarp for the jockey wheel and bar.

Our method of bungies and tarp with ropes is the most successful for our size and shape trailer, its taken many go's to get this right to stop it filling with water dips and billowing about at the slightest bit of wind.

Yes, it is a faff but very worthwhile if you value your trailer and want it to last for many years and still look good.

This might sound a bit OTT but what about building some kind of wooden shelter for it or buying a shed with extra wide doors.........it would add to the security and look a bit better and you could leave your camping gear stored in the trailer.
PS if your trailer is more than 6 years old you may want to buy some new tyres (if its still on the original ones)

This is what we have done so far for the trailer. We cant put it in a shed (my first idea) as it wont fit down the path to the rear garden, and not keen about a shed in the front garden.

Tyres are pretty new or so the guy who sold me the trailer said. They certainly look new loads of tread left

I'm thinking of a really heavy duty tarp and maybe have it stitched to fit....

Hmm we used to dismantle ours, the towbar and wheels would go inside the trailer, which we stood on its end and then wrapped just the body in tarp with bungees around it to keep it all together.

Our lid has been suspended from our garage roof!!

Worth checking the age of the tyres.....from what I've read     (unlike cars which are worn out before age affects them) trailer/caravan tyres perish with age. They may look absolutely fine and have very little wear but that doesn't mean they are not dodgy. The trailer has a "registration" plate on the front (just below the edge of your tarp) and that should give the year of manufacture of the trailer.....

The tyres may have a date on them as well although having closely examined mine can't see one.

Cheers Gari, I'll certainly check them out again. I know the trailer is a 2003 model from looking at the registration plate, but didnt think to look on the tyres themselves.

Larbea, I did think of dismantling it but couldnt be bothered!! Also it may stop us from using it as often as we'd like

Fair one.. it doesn't take too long to dismantle, but we have no choice as we can't store it all set up :-/
