Hi
I have been planning a trip to Keswick next week but as it is later in the season than I would have liked to have gone I am now starting to wonder if there will be swarms of the midges about and if so any tips would be great on how not to get bitten

I was their last weekend , for the beer festival ,had no problems with midges we walked all the way around derwent water and seen none.
We were at the beer festival as well. I have to say we felt a few as we sat out the back just as the sun went down. That was soon remedied by going inside the massive tent to hear some of the bands singing.
We had a few at our campsite on the Friday night but nothing too annoying. A few squirts of smidge kept them from biting me.
Which site are you staying at? The Keswick area is lovely

Not sure if it works but I read somewhere this week that if you cut a few limes in half then insert some cloves into the limes it will keep the pesky mites away.
As I say haven't tried it yet ourselves sorry but find the citronella candles don't work
Maybe see you there ddlkc. Going to Burns Farm myself for Monday evening on my first trip of the year. Hope the pesky midges aren't about. Will get some smidge also. Is it expensive?
