Well, last weekend we finally got round to using our bargain Ebay bought Biscaya 500. I can honestly say this has changed our perception of tents completely. On our test pitch we were slightly disappointed about lack of storage and other 'high - tec' developments that seem standard on high end Outwell's. However, this has all changed following use. It was a total, total joy. Saturday was very warm, and we returned from a long walk along Anglesey's coastal path around 3pm. The tent had been in full sun for 6 hrs, I was shocked about how cool it was inside - much cooler than outside. Being able to peel back the entire front wall of the tent in warm weather is great, the cream interior creates a fantastic light quality - so much better than green/blue/orange tents. Pitch time 40 mins from bagged to complete.
Sorry for going on, I doubted how much more tent you got for your money with Cabanon and would the price ever be worth it, no doubt! Worth every single penny even if bought from new.
One question for other Biscaya owners - because of the very warm days but relatively cool nights the dew fall was intense. The tent was absolutely soaked in the morning, no problem for the main part, but I noticed a very small amount of seepage through the Canopy. Has anyone had this before? Does the all-weather polyester need to be pre-soaked like polycotton?
Can't wait for the next trip

Thanks for sharing the Biscaya love. Also, massive thanks for whoever sorted out my image posting.
We were going to buy a Biscaya 440 from new and at £2K it's a proper investment. The problem was we had never seen one in the flesh, a bit of a risk when you're spending that amount. Whilst mulling it over someone posted a link to a Biscaya 500 on Ebay, on this forum. Ok, it's 4 years old and needs a few bits replacing but otherwise it's immaculate AND was £800.
The groundsheet looked new, and the canvas was spotless. The beauty of these tents is that the hanging and window rubbers, ladder-lock buckles, hooks and other little bits are easily replaced and maintained. This makes a massive difference, and means you really can enjoy the tent for years. Unlike our Outwell, that frankly was falling apart after 4 years. I'm a real cynic when it comes to built in obsolescence.
Only downside is the Biscaya 500 is now discontinued, in fact Cabanon no longer make a '500' size tent in either the awaya or biscaya. A shame, because although it is huge this tent really is easy to pitch and take down - even for a two night stay.
