Go down to your local Garage (not a dealer) ask if they've got a length of thick welding rod and ask them to grind a point or flat on it for you, then cut it down in length so its just a couple of inches longer than the blockage then put it in a drill at low speed and hope it clears it. 17

Sorry realised it has already been posted, I did post this a few hours back but I guess user error didn't make it happen.....jet washer should blast it out.

If the only two-ferrule section you can get is slightly over length, could you shorten the adjacent section?

Mmmm, sounds like a possibility. Is it possible that it would put undue stress on the incorrect sized section or adjacent section though?

Might be worth a go. I'm struggling a bit for time to be honest though. This weekend is full and I'm working until Wednesday next week and need the tent from Thursday (Silverstone Grand Prix)

Hi again, we think if its mud, then, like its been suggested, soaking should help, but, could be small stone? Need some stiff fine wire to push through. Failing that, we got our spare pole kit for same tent, from ebay, ,you need 11mm, with long ferule . Hubby also burns the end of elastic so that its hard and threads through more easily, although you sometimes you get a threader wire with spares kit.Good luck.

Thanks for your help everyone. Ended up buying some spare pole sections and a long ferrule from Tent Spares.

It could be a snapped-off knot of shock cord that is blocking the pole. Straightened-out coat hanger is best; you might even need to heat the tip red-hot and burn out the knot. Otherwise it should be possible to remove the metal ends and araldite them on the new pole.
And finally, if you cannot cure the shock cord problem you can use bits of tank tape to hold the pole sections together. Better than giving up and going home!
