Just returned from two lovely days at Fforest Fields, which was the first time we camped taking our 1 year old dog. We wanted to see what she would be like and if we could take her again.
The dog was fine - she loved it.
What wasnt fine tho - the next pitch - one tent and a transit van/motor home, who thought it was ok to return to a sleeping campsite past midnight.
They opened and slammed car doors (and a sliding door) repeatedly, let their newborn baby cry and their puppy whine.
When they did eventually quieten down - the owners of the tent decided to turn up and made just as much noise.
My dog was fast asleep when all this started and barked her head off as she was so upset.
Is it me or would you at least apologise to the people next to you the following morning? Especially as their dog also woke everyone up at 6am!!!
I'd apologise . But my dogs aren't ones for barking unless it warrants it .
I was away at a tiny site a couple of weeks ago ; a family left their young dog fastened up outside the caravan , yapping away for over 30 minutes ; I can't say how much longer as I'd had enough and took my 2 dogs out for an extra walk . 2 hours later they had taken it inside . The only walk it got was being dragged around the site by the 3 year old , or a very quick ( 5 mins max ) just out of the site
My dogs loved the site ; we walked for miles and can't wait to go back .
------------- Used to be LurcherPie until pc probs . Still a camper with 3 lovely Lurchers
We had a family that refused to put their dog on a lead at one site, it left parcels everywhere, then it came to our tent, now our dogs doesn't bark...nearly never!Thought she had been de-barked but turns out she can when a cat is in the garden with her!! One thing she doesn't do is other dogs (ex breeder) so when Fido turned up it was greeted with teeth and growling. The owners complained to the site owner, he came to see us and when we told him what happened and he saw Rio was on a lead inside the tent and she was super friendly,he asked the other people to leave the site and even escorted them after giving them an hour to pack up!!
First night our do had such a fab time. She didnt bark and slept like a log after so much fresh air.
Second night after being woken up she was miserable. We got home today and she not only slept in the car on the way home but all of us slept until 5pm because we all lost so much sleep.
Next time Im forgoing the ECU and siting as for away from everyone as possible.
What makes it worse is that the rowdy late comers were not even using an ECU, so they could have parked anywhere. They must have known they were going to be late back as they all went to some party. Why didn't they have the courteousness to park away from anyone else - not 10 foot from our tent!!
Some people have no manners or common sense.
