Anyone have one for their bell tent?

Any good?

Worth the money?

Need some reassurance before I overload the credit card!

Just bought a malu from Karma Canvas to use as a porch. It's not as good looking as the one you linked to (which my friend has just ordered) but it's got a higher head height and is more versatile in that you can use it on its own as a stand alone shelter.

I do really like the look of yours though. Very pretty.

so tarp dimensions are 5.2m x 2.6m? you may have read on here about 'Wenka' tarps from Germany? it seems another seller on ebay is selling these and this one is 3m x 5m so of similar size but for only £77 delivered (no poles) so may be worth a try.

The Malu from Karma is the same dimensions as the OBelink cotton tarp that I believe you already have?

Yes, I have the Obelink one, just not getting the hang of it and pitching on my own is tricky.

The BCT one just seems a bit more useable and I really like the way it meets the ground and 'hugs' the bell tent :)

From what I've read on here, the Wenka tarps are heavy, especially when wet....? Thanks for the ebay link, although once I factor in shipping and poles etc they don't seem quite so reasonable.

I have the obelink one, I couldn't put it up by myself when it was just the tarp but once I attached it to the bell tent it was so much easier. I camp as a solo female & I'm 5ft nothing.

I attached mine to the bell tent at the a frame, then pegged out the guy ropes, put the pole up at the end & tightened up the guy rope at the pole, then did the rest of the guy ropes. By the end of my trip I had both poles at the end, which I loved as I was nice to sit under & you could still what was going on.

The poles are are shorter than the obelink ones. My obelink tarp (is the tarp beige TC). I have just come back from using mine for the first time, & spent the first few days putting it in various different ways until I found one I liked.

To me it seems like a lot to spend on a tarp, for 1 extra pole & to be a bit smaller.

Thanks Stace75. I wouldn't have known to peg out the guys ropes before wrestling with the pole! How big is your total pitch area with the obelink tarp on? It just seems so enormous! Will it all fit on a standard pitch or will I have to request a bigger pitch? (I have a 5m bell)

I have a 4m bell & I think it fitted ok. The part of the site I picked no-one else joined me, so had a big area to myself. I did keep thinking was it too big after I pitched it, but then looked at the other set up & mine still seemed smaller. I camped in holland, I don't know if that makes a difference.

When I pitched mine I started by just having one pole at the end but it wasn't nice for sitting under & felt a bit claustrophobic. I then had it with a pole at the end corners, I tired it at full height & by only having 2 sections of the poles together (it was a bit low even for me like this).
