Hi,
New to the camping world and need some help before My first trip tomorrow ...... I have bought the "summit" butane 227g gas cannisters and have a "campinggaz" bistro stove will these fit and are they the right ones please? As the stove says compatible with cp250 cartridges and I can't see this printed anywhere on the "summit" canister (they look just like the campingaz stove cartridges but guess that means nothing & have printed on them "only use with summit stove"). I had the summit stove (bought yesterday) along with the gas but it's broken so had to take it back and they don't have anymore in stock at moment! The campingaz stove is one I had had a long while but not actually used, I have some OLD campingaz cartridges but they have gone slightly rusty so don't want to use these in it.
So just wondering if I can use the "summit" cartridges or if I need to go other side of town to get some campingaz ones?
Sorry for the waffle, just don't want to blow myself or anyone else up lol.
Thanks in advance 😊

Hi, do the cartridges fit into the stove?

Yeah it should be fine. I use hi-gear canisters in my campingaz stove all the time.

They are all pretty much the same. Just make sure that the notch in the neck of the canister is lined up with the tab on the stove ( in the canister tray). Then when you lock the two together to cook, you will get a secure link.

We always unlock the canister after use by the way, have had a leaky one in the past.

I agree as above. Providing the canisters are the same size and fitting they will be fine. The reason why they say only use a specific brand of canister is because they obviously want you to buy their brand.

Having said that I once watched a couple of foreign campers trying to light a stove using a canister which was clearly the wrong size. I was some distance away thankfully and all I could do was watch as they tried to jam some cardboard behind the canister to pack it out and make it fit. I could hear gas escaping even from a distance and couldn't believe it when he clicked the piezo ignition. The flare up took his eyebrows off but thankfully he was ok. At that point another camper ran across to give them a canister that fitted.

I couldn't see what canister they were using but it was clearly too short and probably didn't have the correct fitting as well.

Thanks for your help & guidance 😊 I will use the ones I have, as they definitely fit & are the same size as the campingaz. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't blow myself or others up on my first camping trip all for the sake of driving to the other side of town to get the branded ones!
