Has anyone found a long lasting way to repair an inner tent? We have a couple of rips in ours, and the elastic tensioners are also starting to tear away from the body. All tent repair kits seem to address only problems with the main fly sheet, so use materials which are 'OTT' for an inner tent. Any suggestions gratefully received (apart from buying another tent!!)
I have never seen anything on how to repair inner tents so all I can suggest, as it may be hard to patch and doesn't have to be waterproof, is just to sew the hole. If it is a large hole maybe sew a patch onto it.
The tensioners are a difficult problem because when they break it is usually right on the seam. Again, the only way is to sew and if it is on the seam make sure it is given some seam sealer afterwards.
One of my inner tent tensioner loops has broken but fortunately right next to it is the velcro loop for hanging lighting wires. Since I don't use the velcro loop I thread the tensioner peg through it.
Not much help I am afraid unless you are handy with needle and thread.
Just had my inner tent repaired this morning by the little old lady over the road....honest! A section approx 3ft long parted company from the seam leaving a very frayed edge. What she did was stitch some sort of cloth tape along both edges that had parted using a sowing machine and then overlap the two tapes and stitch together.A very neat job and all can be done without the need to erect the tent.Well worth the £10 I gave her! She only asked for 20 cigs!!
