Sarahir - with my Mum it was milk: she could never have enough. We thought of buying her a cow

Speaking of which, I just found the little aluminium flask I take on picnics to put some milk in for OH's tea - WITH milk still in it. And we've not been on any since last summer... it had gone beyond cottage cheese to something approaching liquid manure. Bleeueerrrrggghhhh.

Lol Wibsey, that sounds like my Mum's tins cupboard. My dad has a sort out every year to throw out all the out of date stuff!

That and her habit of buying dishwasher tablets when on offer...at the last count she had nine large boxes of Finish

Oh yes I am a sucker for the dishwasher Tabs offer at present I have about a years worth

We are in Cornwall at the moment and supermarkets seem to be spread out. We just bought the basics such as bread milk and butter but def less than last time and have still managed to get what we need on a daily basis

Asda Chosen By You dried Mexican Chilli Meal.... meat free.

Just back from cycle camping in France, I bought the above meal before starting out and carried it to Berck sur Mere and then back to Camping de Fort Lapin, Bleriot Plage, Calais. Somehow each evening I had something available that was more interesting and quicker than this meal. On my 2nd to last night a couple of Arizonan cyclists arrived late and moved in next to me, asking what time the shops shut. I donated them the meal advising them that it would be a true taste of home for them.
PS I let them have my last pack of Asda Instant Noodles too. I had planned to eat these myself, so I am not altogether cruel, (I gave them 2 of those strange pots of fruit puree the French have, as a sweet).

Enjoy the liveliness of the syntax.

I went on my first solo, long trip in June (i.e more than a weekend with friends).
I decided to meal plan to save cash and lugged a cool box, plastic crate and canvas bag of food, utensils etc from the Midlands to Cornwall.
I probably brought home 50% of what I took with me!
I discovered a couple of meals that work well, a couple that were failures, and also bought fresh local food which meant my planned meals were relegated.

Next time I will take a couple of 'emergency' meals like pasta and a sauce and save space in the tent!
