2 weeks in Tenerife (4 star all inclusive, very nice thank you very much) £6000, 1 week camping in France €350. So er yes, camping is MUCH cheaper. Ok the camping gear cost around £1000 and there's your spending money, but still cheaper than your average summer package holiday and it's all reusable.
Yes it IS cheaper to camp and there are a huge number of advantages to camping that you can't put a price on, like getting to know the British countryside, not having to queue in a f*<{|^€ airport which is it's own particular type of Hell, the smell of the grass and the bacon, being able to get a decent cup of tea...
