I am using my icarus 600 enclosed canopy for the first time camping in abergele. It's pretty gusty with wind gusts of up to 40mph forecast for tonight. The main rent has reinforcement straps and is coping pretty well but the canppy is bending about a bit. Do I take down the canopy?
I would in case the wind gets between the tent and the canopy to be on the safe side.
My Icarus 500 canopy almost took off in Bude a couple of years ago, and the poles got snapped
Agree...Take it down....The enclosed porch on my Icarus 500 was lifting in the gales a year or so ago...I took it down and chucked it in the van before any damage was done....Sorted and packed it away next morning....

Take it down. Even your tent isn't guaranteed to hold up to 40mph gusts and it's enclosed on all sides and under, a porch is far more likely to just take off like a kite. And an unsecured porch cartwheeling round a campsite can cause a great deal of damage.

Thanks we did take it down, there was one poor old couple at our campsite who's tent didn't hold up to the winds and got tangled in a tree!! Fortunately between several other campers we managed to find them a spare 2 man pup tent, airbed and pump so they had a fairly comfy and dry night.
