Oh, no, another 'spat out my wine' moment.
Well, I kind of sit (or sleep) between two camps as the Megamat (have I mentioned these before? ) is a wonderful lovechild. It does the airbed comfy thing, but also the SIM insulation bit too. Before that, I had 'old skool' red n blue rubberised cotton airbeds, which were great (electric pump) but I fancied something well, a bit fancier. Still have them tho' as I can't bear to part with such classics. I slept on one for several months when I broke my leg, it was lovely: duvet top and bottom, like a mother's breast.
I also tried, and then ditched, a cheapo vinyl flocked shocker.
We also have an Aerobed but I never sleep well on that, it feels like I'm at sea, and not in a good way.
So, Megamat for me, with the old red n blues as back up: can I be an associate member of the airbed appreciation club please?

Yesterday I was able to test the Thermarest Mondoking SIM a little bit.
The thing that most interests me is how easy it is to get it down to its published packed size. They reckon 18cm for the XXL, which seems incredible for something 4" thick and over 6' long.
If someone could then assure me that they're thick enough to disguise the presence of the bar down the middle of a double airbed, I could be tempted.

We have the airbeds that are on raised metal frames, it's our first time trying these as we usually have a normal aerobed with pump.
We are looking forward to trying these- the mattress can be removed or replaced if any problems, and we are able to sleep on the frame should the thing pop x
