Just about got back from 3 weeks in the south of France with the wife and 3 kids. Had a great time but the tent has suffered a big ish rip and some water was getting through in a few other places. It only rained twice so no big deal. The tent is an Icarus 500. Anybody got any advice on an excellent tent with enough space for a growing family? We have totally outgrown our tent! My wife is wanting a caravan but I love it in tents and so I want to get a set up which she can't argue about!
Thanks
They have a realy good price on the high gear oasis 6 and 8 at go outdoors this is a brill tent and vey good quality. My friend had just brought the 8 birth one bit big for me but I will be going to buy the 6 birth soon. And they have a realy nice canopy bulit in
"An excellent tent" is a bit vague! How much do you want to spend?
In my opinion you can't beat a used Cabanon Biscaya as a family tent, as long as you have space to transport it (it comes in 2 large bags and one small bag). Around £600 can get you a Biscaya 440 from ebay if you're lucky. Make sure you get the 'all-season polyester' version though, not the lightweight 'ripstop polyester'.
We are camped next to a high gear oasis and its a lovely tent. The campsite was hit by 46 mph winds on Sunday and it didn't budge. We went for the folding camper option when our old tent bit the dust and don't regret it at all but its a different kind of camping.
We also have an Icarus 500 + awning at the moment and will be looking to upgrade next year. Our requirements are:
1) 3 bedrooms
2) Space to cook inside or under cover (we use a canopy windbreak at the moment)
3) Cotton / Polycotton
Our first thoughts were something from the Kampa Classic line, possible the Croyde 8 Classic or maybe the 6, though that's only 2 bedrooms.
However, after finding the Obelink site, we really like the Obelink Familia 6. The 2 metre deep full canopy with the zip in mesh looks like a great cooking / dining area, and it has 3 bedrooms. Great price too.
