We were in north Yorkshire at the weekend too with our 6 year old granddaughter.she watched us taking down windbreaks and moving the car etc and promptly fell asleep. We had a very windy, worrying night with little sleep whilst she slept through and awoke the next morning and said sternly "grandma I thought you said it was going to be wind last night!"
We were in cayton bay over last weekend, our first outing in a brand new tent. I got rather obsessed with the guy ropes, making sure everything was nice and tight. The weather forecast didn't help with yellow warning for wind in place.
The tent did us proud even the front open extension! At one point the sig was ballooning up inside the tent.
I must admit the couple of jack Daniels I had helped with the worry :)
We had to set up at Skipsea on Sunday, bell tent went up easy in the strong winds, the tarp awning we nearly gave up on, looked like a spiders web by the time we finished, our normal amount of guidelines were just being pulled out, even with double pegging!
