So ive seen a trailer. New to camping and know nothing about trailers!
Its a Caddy 430. Small trailer but measured and will fit our tent. This is a photo of it
Would this be ok for taking camping gear, tent etc? Obviously would get a cover for it? Or is it only ok for short journeys?
We only have a 1.0ltr corsa but as its small and we wouldn't over load the trailer Halfords said this size woukd be ok. Just wanted advice as i said we know nothing about the quality or difference in trailers. This is £80 on a local sale site. Thanks
Yes it's ok but the thing about trailers is as soon as you get one you wish you had a bigger one. You are limited somewhat by the size of your car but you do have an unbraked towing capability of 450 kg.

The thing is we can't afford to upgrade the car and are struggling to fit what we take in that car. So i thought this trailer even though its small is a good compromise?
I had a Caddy and had to file the corners down due to them being very sharp and poking through the cover...Handy tip : Wrap the bungee twice round the buttons to prevent the cover flying off down the motorway.
Can i be exceptionally nosey Does the fact you are considering buying a trailer mean that the dogs may be going on your camping holidays in future as there will be room in the car for them? A number of people responded to your other post encouraging you to take them but as you said, not enough room in the car. I camp on my own, take two dogs and previous dogs have all been camping and they all enjoy it just as much as i do. I have a Mondeo estate, a double height trailer and still have stuff on the back seats It's surprising how much gear you can get in a trailer and i'd definitely say 'go for it' and another good thing is if you have a garage you can leave a lot of your stuff in the trailer permanantly ready for the next trip.
I hope to be but the person selling us the trailer didnt tell us he had put it on ebay at the same time!!!!! So 2hrs before we were due to collect he phoned and said ''sorry i forgot i put it on ebay and got more money on there and dont want to get bad feedback as i sell a lot!!"
Im fuming!!!!! Ours was only a verbal agreement so im very upset as it was a complete bargain!!
Sorry to hear that, a bit rude not to have told you they had put it on ebay and even ruder to have gone back on an agreement with you, verbal or otherwise. How blinking annoying. Keep looking there are bound to be other trailers around. After i bought mine( a few months back) i saw three locally for sale, one just around the corner from me.
Just another thought and i know it's all extra expense so may not be practical. If you were going to have a tow bar fitted anyway and you haven't found a trailer before your next trip they are available to hire.
If you are still looking for a trailer another thing to keep in mind is the age of the tyres. If the trailer is more than 6 years old and the tyres have not been replaced its generally recommended that you get new ones. You can usually determine the age of the tyre from a code on sidewall.
