hi, just purchased rock pegs, seems weird but how do you attach guy line to it.

With my Y pegs I usually open the loop and put it around it as its on a 45 degree angle. With a rock peg it has a notch / lip which you can hook it on but at the 45 degree angle it would slip off.

Do you push the plastic bit down and wrap around the nail end?

On the peg you have shown there is a hook on one side and a hole on the other. The hole is for inserting a peg puller to pull the peg out.

You loop the guy rope over the top of the peg and under the hook and with the hook facing away from the tent and the peg at 45 degrees, hammer it into the ground so the tip of the hook enters the ground. With the tip of the hook in the ground the peg cannot twist and discharge the guy.

If I can find a rock peg picture I will post it but it is done similar to this but with the peg hammered right down into the ground as mentioned

Thanks for the quick reply, makes sense but concern is if the peg turned around the line would pop out.

The plastic top can sometimes swivel under tension leaving the guy just on the hook. If the hook is shallow..... I usually loop the guy round twice to keep it on.
Also, The ones that swivel are also the ones that drop off leaving you with a 6 inch nail instead of a peg.
Love my rock pegs though

They can be replaced with "modesty blocks" though (as I suggested in this old thread).

Hence the reason for hammering the hook of the peg into the ground...it can't swivel round.

Agree with Bob. The tip of the hook must go in far enough to ensure there's no gap between hook and ground, thus ensuring it can't swivel. (That also leaves the hole side uppermost, ready for extracting, if you use a peg puller).

Personally, I changed mine for some washers we use in the industrial roofing trade. BY chance, they are a perfect fit, needing to push them along, as they don't slide about... or off!!
Hook the line around the "nail", below the washer, and ideally leave a gap between top of washer and head of the nail, (as per the "after" pic) so it's all ready to hook my jemmy bar on, to pull it out!

I can honestly say I've never lost a guy line off the end of a rock peg and I use my rock pegs for everything except really soft sandy pitches. If you hammer them in properly they will not revolve and they will not pull out unless the soil turns to mud round them. You're more likely to have the guyline rip from the tent than lose the other end off a properly hammered in rock peg, in my experience.
