The thing that annoys me when you go to book and look at the tariff you see caravan and awning is one price but when you check for the tent find price is the same but just for the tent and if you want a gazebo or tent for cooking you have to pay for it we were asked to pay £5.00 a night on top of the cost of the tent for each night on a site this year for a small covered cooking utility tent and it would pitch in the area that was marked off for our pitch it was not that we were stopping some one else pitching something there,

I have been camping just 3 times this year (used to go every weekend once upon a time). I have used small sites that I have been to before and know charge reasonable prices. I am hoping to get a couple more trips in before winter hits, but getting bored with my usual haunts I have just started searching around for somewhere new to go.
I have been absolutely astounded at the prices being charged now. I appreciate that many campsites are still charging high season rates until next week but I seem to be pretty well priced out of camping I think...simply can't afford it any more.
Hopefully my good old faithful campsites won't get greedy and I will be able to continue camping for a few more years yet but prices are getting ridiculous...certainly becoming a holiday only the rich can afford.
Considering all the different threads that have been coming in fast and furious about campsite charges this year, it's obviously not just me who is suffering.

Don't let the locals catch you calling it that.
It is a bit pricey but what a wonderful place

In May went to a site that charged per size of tent, my friend booked it as a 4 man but officially it's a 6 man. If we had paid the 6 man then it would have cost more than a caravan when it's the same size as a caravan and they got their awnings included in the price! if we'd have taken the Diablo 900 then no problem to paying fir a large tent. We paid £2 per night for gazebo . I don't mind what I pay if I think its fair.

I just avoid sites that are too expensive - as I camp on my own in my tent I object to paying the same as a family of 4. Sadly the majority of sites make no distinction between 4 people and just one person :(
Last site I went to was £4 for pitch £4.50 per adult which is perfectly reasonable.

The last site I stayed at was £6 per adult no other outlay, no extras, dogs free. Fab facilities. I have never except the mantra, "you get what you pay for" those who do, may except and willing to pay exhorbatant prices.
