yes miller there are some. have you gave any thought to stitching two sleeping bags together. amazing what can be done with a sewing machine. always a few places that do sewing for you. some people have actualy sewn four sleeping bags into one large double. and yes it worked.

I swear by a tip I got a few years ago when we used to tent camp. An hour or 2 before going to bed put your jammies on under your clothes (i've been known to do this as early as 6 pm lol). When bedtime comes you just take off outer layers and dive into bed and your PJ's are already heated up. Dont forget the bedsocks.
Earliest for me was 16:30 (already dark)... hot shower (with underfloor heating!) short shorts and tee shirt (They're the PJ's that stay on), then all the outer layers and thermal socks for sitting around in front of the fan heater. Half a book, and half a bottle of Aldi's "Baileys" later, it was wellies on, stroll through the snow (on the ground, not falling) to the heated toilets, (more to stretch our legs and get some fresh air, as we have a bucket in the tent), stroll back, strip off all the outer layers, including socks, turn off fan heater, and leap into my fleece lined "5 season" fishing bag.
Cosiest and most satisfying nights sleep I have ever had!
That nights footprints were still there next morning, alongside my freshly made ones...

We have camped (canvas and cotton with sig and zig) in freezing conditions, we have always used an electric blanket, we sleep with it switched on on the overnight setting.......and a duvet. I don't mind the cold but I hate the damp, and the blanket stops that.

i have to agree with others on here, from this time of year onwards i need to have ehu, fan heater and electric blanket. the ehu is also for lighting as it gets dark so early on and i can sit inside with hot drinks from kettle, food cooked on electric hob and food and drinks kept chilled in the fridge - it just makes it all a bit nicer. although i know this is not how the die-hards like it, if i didnt have ehu i quite simply wouldnt be camping at all this late in the year!.

We have an Aerobed
Thanks for replying, just wondered if folks were using a range of beds or if it was mostly airbeds that used electric blankets.?

I have a 10cm SIM, with a Kampa low volt electric blanket.
Works a treat and makes for a very comfy warm sleep!!

With a campbed and SIM combination does the electric blanket go directly on top of the sim and under the sleeping bag?

You can lie on some electric blankets but I prefer to cover ours with a blanket, just in case you can feel any wires, so in your case, yes, under the sleeping bag but on top of the sim.

I put my blanket under the SIM, that way it warms the whole bed and not just the top bit in my opinion :)
