Hi all,

On our first trip away in our new monty! Its great so far apart from one thing that concerns me..... the black bit that you put the pole into for the wet weather porch is leaning into the side of the tent with quite some pressure. I'm just a little worried that after a while it may rub through!!? Just wondering if anyone else had the same issue? Or if we are doing something wrong to cause this to happen?

Thanks in advance!

Very short bit on it on the outwell youtube page, 4mins 20min.
Seem to press on tent in the pitching video, they put the strap between the holder and tent itself.

We've got a 2012 Montana and ours is the same. I seem to recall reading on here somewhere, that someone had taken 20 mm off each end of the pole to relieve the pressure. But don't quote me on that.

Dance before the storm and don't look back to where you've been.

If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, you obviously haven't grasped the gravity of the situation.

I don't want it I just need it.

Same on mine....Only had it up twice since I got it and noticed those brackets seemed a bit crooked and tight against the fabric of the tent...Think they need to be at that angle to accommodate the pole going through the top....

Not an issue for me...As I only use the Monty on my main hols once a year...But if I was using it regularly I would be looking to put something between the bracket and the fabric of the tent to stop it rubbing which could be an issue in windy weather or after long term use......

Jelboy.

No it makes no difference where the ropes are placed. Thanks for all your help! It doesn't get used that much anyway so hopefully it will be ok! I'm sure outwell thought about the design!

Been having a look around at a few threads as we've just brought a second hand monty 6.
Some people saying no probs, some saying it the adjustment scrap not being pulled tight enough, some saying cut 10mm off each end.
One thread I did look at was were someone was after a new pole as theirs had broke, they got a replacement from yeomans which was actually shorter than the original one
