So we have sold our Vango Maritsa 700 and are now in the market for a canvas tent to sleep 4 + a cairn terrier.

Have looked at the Cabanon Barbados and the Touareg,Palamos etc and looked at the reviews on here.

Which one is the best for our needs?

Would like a reasonable amount of room to live in which does not encroach on the sleeping area.

The kids have got cot beds but the wife and i are on the floor at the moment(did have a double kampa cot bed but found it too uncomfortable.

So we need a canvas tent easy for one person to erect with enough sleeping, living and cooking space and not feeling hemmed in like battery chickens when it is raining.

Willing to pay upto Barbados money so max £1000.

What do people with real experiences of both nylon and canvas tents reccommend??

Regards.

We are loving our 6mt bell tent, 2adults and 2kids, you can get inner tents to make sleeping areas. We sleep in half and live in half. We got ours at belltent uk. A 5 mt one would be big enough.. And lighter and easier to erect. I've a pic of mine in my gallery. All the best

Never used a Polyester Tent for Family camping, and we got our first Cabanon Cotton Canvas Tent back in 1978.

They do tend to last and we upgraded in 2008, and bought a brand new Cabanon Biscaya 370 Cotton Canvas for £699.

The Biscaya took our camping experience to the next level, what with ZiG and just 5 Hoops to pitch.

Mrs Francais leaves me to pitch, whilst she goes of to scope the campsite, and to bring me some chilled beers to help with pitching.

Sadly the Biscaya 370 Cotton is no longer made, in fact it was only produced for the 2007 Season.

Then came along the Vision, similiar Tent in Cotton but SiG instead of ZiG.

And now of course the Biscaya 370 Cotton is reincarnated as the Awaya 370 Cotton with ZiG.

I would go for theTouareg with ZIG, quite roomy easy to pitch, windows and doors on both sides.

 Or Palamos.

We are loving our 7m bell tent....think we've finally found the right set up.....We had the Outwell Wolf lake 7 before and a 6m bell previous to that (the 6m was also plenty big enough). We love how quick and easy the bell tent is to put up....

Bought a second hand Outwell Bear lake 6 earlier this year which we absolutely love. Its massive with 3 of us in it, huge living area and very light and airy. The newer model is even bigger but it exceeds 7 x 5 metres so might struggle with some sites, its a bit too big, quality tents though. The bear lake 4 is pretty big too.
