Hi all,
We have finally decided on a new tent having enjoyed our Outwell Oakland XL for a few years. After a long discussion on here several months ago and a visit to the Camping show last week (as recommended,) we are hoping to purchase a Vango Evoke 600 airbeam tent - thank you for all the advice in previous postings!!
My question is when to buy. At the moment I know the tents are only just starting to come out - does anyone know if prices for the new 2015 versions will stay pretty static until end of summer, or is it worth waiting as they will fluctuate and drop? We wanted to buy at the show and use the pay later option, and got £150 off the current price, but I didn't have enough bank details with me, so we had to walk away - we were gutted and the problem now is, I have that discount price in my head and don't want to pay more if possible. We need to have bought one in time for this summer.
I also wondered how best to go about selling my Oakland. It's still in good nick, been looked after and packed dry every time - there is a small tear in the bedroom area (which didn't affect us last year) and we have both the awning and canopy.
Grateful for any advice!
Many thanks
Maz
We sold our old tent on Pre-loved last year. Can set your own price, no auction and no payment fees. Worked a treat for us. Sold it around Easter. Post as many pics as poss and be honest about the condition it is in

2017
April - New Forest(9)
May - Dorset (9)
August - Camping Le Pin Parasol, Vendee (18)
October - East Mersea (8)
and five nights in the one man tent!
We have always got a good price when selling in March/April, people are keen to buy for the new season. We actually got our asking price on a Cabanon Trailer tent in March last year which was a lot of money so I would say mid March.
I don't think so Navver as they said they weren't on commission and the 2nd guy that dealt with us said we couldn't sort it once leaving - he didn't say it as a selling ploy it was more a sympathetic thought once he realised we couldn't go ahead as we didn't have all the details we needed.

When do you need it by? If its not til the summer I would leave the buying of your tent as long as poss. I bought our tent in early sept - paid around half price - saved a fortune as it is a large polycotton this was after a very wet summer! Is it likely to be sold by go outdoors as their price match would bring prices down
There seem to be a few still around from last year Cotswolds have them in selected shops from £750 and so does Amazon for £733, suggests its not going to sell out.
Or here for £688 - is there much difference between last and this years model?
