Do make sure if you have a footprint to lay it down BEFORE pitching tent. We were so excited to finally get our new tent up we realised we hadn't laid the footprint under. Hence my OH doing an impression of a mole!! Whole campsite was in stiches! Was very funny, didn't help that he dropped car keys out of his pocket whilst doing impression of mole and realised later on in evening where they were, so we had to send him under again. We still laugh now about it now.

Ditto watch...
And mobile phone.
Oh, dear another one! I thought it was only my OH!
He has left:
Wallet
Mobile phone
Inhaler (needs it)
House Keys (remembered thank goodness..at the camp site)
And yes... last year...said our goodbyes to new camping friends... not a thing left on the grass... about to get in car..... Uh,uh. Car keys in the central storage. I refused to crawl ... he forgot them, he had to get them!
Mind you we did make everyone have a good laugh!
The best of it is that every time I always ask the question ...is it empty...and he always says yes!!
OH has done both
I was parted from my good watch (a birthday present) for a whole winter once after leaving it inside the tent pocket. My biggest problem, being a multi tented person, was finding which tent it was in. I had to go on several trips using different tents to find it.

Buy a polythene decorators sheet from Poundland, place it under your footprint or tent before setting up and throw away when taking tent down, saves a lot of cleaning.
Use an App called Buy Me A Pie, meant for shopping lists but It can easily be used to make reuseable lists of items needed on camping trip and crossed off as they are packed.
If DH gets totally stressed about something else and hurries you so much you forget the stove, remember to have booked a site with free bbq's lying around.
When you reach said site, remember to pick a site next to said bbq, rather than across an acre or more.
