Having gone through the loft over the last week or so, well on days off, we finally finished the camping bits today.
We came across a little rectangular mat - "What's this for?" OH giving me the age old question with "things" he's picked up. "Mmm, I don't know" says me. Then he started to laugh - "This is one for UK campsite - ask 'em if their dog has a footprint!" Then I remembered - As we only had the dog last year and never had a dog cage in the tent, I imagined the cage (being metal) might snag the groundsheet, so I bought a little mat for underneath. I never thought of it like that, it being a footprint - or should I say paw print - and did give a lil ol chuckle.
So, do you do similar - and... has your dog got a footprint?!!

I used to carry and use a small self-inflating mat for walkers/hikers to sit on as part of the dog's bed when we camped in the previous tent, so I would say the dog had his own SIM!

I too put a towel or blanket under the dog cage footprint to protect the floor of the tent.

No need of a footprint, he sleeps on our bed and I take a chair for him too.

I did tell hubby that the carpet in the main area was so the dog's claws didn't damage SIG, small white lie there I wanted a carpet lol

I take the dog's bed with me....Plastic moulded thing with her cushion/petbed/pillow on top...

And depending on what tent I use a footprint...Plastic G/sheet and /or a carpet or canvas G/sheet that I use as a carpet in my small two man tents underneath...

If its in the colder months she has a fleece blanket over her as well....But that is usually laying on the floor in the morning....I suspect she either does not like it...Or gets too hot...Either way I know she starts a colder night snug and warm....

My big bug bear taking her in wet weather is cleaning and drying her towels?? Last time I took her we had four days of constant rain...Murder trying to get her dry after being out in it all day....And she invariably chose my bed as a warmer/dryer place than her own when left for short periods by herself in the tent!!!

Not daft that dog.....

Jelboy.

Well, Jelboy, our dog also ends up on his blanket on our bed at night, but during the day the bed area is usually zipped up (habit after camping in France). But regarding a towel - I have just purchased a microfibre towel for him. After seeing the "doggy bags" I decided that I would not pay £50+ and would try and make one. The towel is quite large so will make the bag, plus enough for a small towel. Apparently, they are good and dry very quick, so getting the dog dried quickly and the drying tool as well. If you like, will let you know what I think - when I can get round to making/using it.
Perhaps I should start a new thread to ask others if they've used them and what they think of them.

p.s. Saw the great photos - didn't know you were a mover and groover

For my two i put down a camping mat, topped with a double duvet folded in half, topped again with a fake fur thermal fleece. They like their comfort! But at least they stay off my bed which is more than can be said for them when they are at home.

happy days
