Er, well here goes:

Outdoor Revolution VRX500 (5 man) for long trips and Spring/Autumn camping when the weather is more likely to be a bit rubbish.
Jack Wolfskin Great Plains III (3 man) - Short-haul weekends and week-long trips. The biggest tent we have that can be put up by one person.
Easycamp Torino 500 - mostly for festivals but also ideal for a weekend trip.
Lichfield Strathy 4 - mostly for Glastonbury as it only weight 4.5kg but we can stand up in it.
Tesco 4-man tent - an "emergency buy" after I packed the wrong poles one trip. It's done a few trips but not much headroom.
ALDI £10 special - Done lots of trips, kept me bone dry in some severe rain. Ideal for solo festival camping and one-nighters.
Gelert Nakina plus 2-man for when we eventually get round to wild camping. Just done bike rallies and one solo trip so far.

Then there's the ridge tent I've never used, the massive 70s frame tent and my old 3-man dome tent...

-------------
...after all an awning is just a three-sided tent!

Festival veteran.

Owner of too many tents!

I would love a 'massive 70's frame tent' but I know that there is no way I could get away with buying one......doesn't stop me from looking though

If its cheap and you don't have a tent you would sleep and cook in go for it, perfectly valid reason for buying another tent .

We just don't get rid of the old ones, that's why we end up with so many.

Old 4-man dome, perfectly serviceable but small rip in porch groundsheet. Advancing years meant we needed a tent we can stand up in, so got ...

5-man dome. Used for many years but now elderly, some poles and elastic loops could do with replacing and I wanted something I could put up on my own. This led to buying ....

The Khyam XL Excelsior. Fab tent, but a pole joint broke when I had a senior moment while putting it up. Emergency purchase of ...

Icarus 500. This was a fab tent, and ended up getting used instead of the Khyam as it was so much quicker to peg out. That one got trashed by stepson and Mr F replaced it with a 600.

So we have 2 that we use to lend non-tent owning friends if they fancy joining us on a trip, and 2 that we use (well, only use the Icarus nowadays, but I wouldn't get rid of the Khyam in case I fancy a solo trip again).

Mr Fran wants to buy a camper van now, so it's easier to get away for spur of the moment weekends. I could have bought my last tent.
